What exactly does “measurement-first” measure — and how?
We explain the method behind our reports openly — not our question bank or our scoring formula, but the approach itself. What we measure, what we rely on, who does what and where we stop.
What we measure
An eight-dimension maturity model.
The full Checkup measures eight dimensions with more than 100 questions adapted to your company profile. The technical dimensions answer “can we do it”, the leadership and employee dimensions answer “will we adopt it”.
- 01Strategy and governance
- 02Technology
- 03Operations
- 04Customer and market
- 05Innovation and AI
- 06People and culture
- 07Employee digital literacy
- 08Leadership competency
Leadership competency is not blended into the overall maturity score: it is measured as a separate score and read together with the Organisational Maturity score. We do not want a self-assessment to carry the headline number.
The same model, a different question set for three company types.
Manufacturing companies see questions on the production line, the bill of materials, planning and supply; companies that do not manufacture are not asked these questions. Trade and distribution companies see questions on demand and inventory planning, stock accuracy and channel profitability; service companies see questions on service delivery, resource planning and delivery quality. The reason is not courtesy but measurement error: an unanswerable question produces a low reading in that dimension that is not real. The dimensions and the scoring logic are the same in all three profiles, so the scores stay on the same scale.
One guided question at a time, with level examples.
The biggest risk in a long questionnaire is clicking without reading — and a score built on corrupted input is more harmful than no score at all. In the full assessment the questions arrive one at a time, and next to each level sits an explanation of what that level looks like in practice. The aim is not to make answering easier, but to make the right answer distinguishable.
Today first, then the target — and the target does not enter the score.
Your maturity score is calculated solely from the answers you give about your current state. The target is declared separately, after the measurement and at dimension level; the gap between the target and today shows the priority. We keep this separation deliberately: otherwise the score would stop being a measurement, turn into a statement of intent and could no longer be compared across companies.
What it rests on
We measure interaction alongside technology.
Our measurement model rests on the socio-technical systems approach: lasting results come from designing technology and organisation together. Even the best technology is not adopted if the organisation and its interactions are not ready for it. That is why we measure processes, roles and interaction together with technology.
Interaction is assessed at three levels
Owning the decision, self-awareness, learning agility and being able to give direction under uncertainty.
A working culture based on trust, openness and participation that carries change together.
The relationship with suppliers, customers, technology providers and the business ecosystem in a digital context.
Evidence discipline
What do we mean by “evidence-based”?
Every finding has a known source. A finding rests on one or more of these evidence types; its weight in the report depends on its source.
Confidence score
Every report carries a confidence score: answer consistency, disagreement between stakeholders and areas left blank are assessed. Low confidence is not hidden in the report — it is flagged openly, with the additional evidence that would raise it.
| Evidence type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Self-assessment | Your questionnaire answers — the starting point, declarative in nature. |
| Stakeholder interview | Answers gathered from different roles. |
| Uploaded document | Process documents, organisation charts, existing reports. |
| System data | Structured information from your current setup (where available). |
| Process evidence | Findings derived from real transaction flows — where appropriate, with partner technology. |
| Consultant observation | A note added by the expert consultant during the review. |
Humans and AI
AI produces the draft. A human decides.
We do not say “every deliverable is expert-approved”, because it isn’t. What AI produces and what a human checks is written down per product.
| Product | AI produces | Human review and approval |
|---|---|---|
| Checkup | Report draft: dimension scores, confidence score | An expert consultant reviews and approves — the report is final after the review |
| Audit | Draft health assessment by department and action list | A consultant reviews and approves |
| Discover | Scope discovery; fit/gap and conceptual design draft | Self-service; consultant support depending on scope |
| Design | Draft configuration instructions and acceptance/test scenarios | An authorised customer user produces them; the consultant’s approval is recorded on the document as a stamp |
| Train | Draft role-based training document and quiz | An authorised customer user produces them; the quiz is scored with fixed rules |
| Process | Feeds the process analysis | With partner technology, accompanied by a consultant |
| Support | Answers from the knowledge base of the product you bought | Not reviewed by a consultant; when no answer is found, it points to a support agreement |
Critical actions — for example, transferring settings to a system — are not applied without a preview and human approval.
Limits
Our deliberate limits — and the reasons.
The same answers produce the same score; the result is reproducible and comparable. A language model generating freely would give a different “score” every time.
Measurement is done with questionnaires, documents and interviews; within an Odoo Audit, when the required access has been separately authorised and established, the live installation can be measured using read-only methods. Our measurement methods make no changes to your system.
For needs that standard configuration cannot meet, we produce technical documentation; if development is needed, it proceeds in a separate scope.
The content, the dimension weights and the scoring formula are MindDX’s intellectual property. What we publish is the method itself.

FAQQuestions
Frequently asked questions
On an evidence-based, consultant-reviewed assessment that measures maturity in eight dimensions and reads Organisational Maturity and Leadership Competency as separate scores. The model rests on the socio-technical systems approach.
Scoring is done with a fixed formula, every report carries a confidence score and the measurement reports go through consultant review. AI produces the draft; an expert verifies the evidence and approves the final scope.
No. The methodology is software-independent; it works in the same way for companies that use Odoo, abas or Zoho, or that have not decided yet.
Because transformation is carried not by technology but by the interaction that turns that technology into work. Even the best technology is not adopted if the organisation is not ready for it.
